Gulati running for FIFA, CONCACAF EXCO

CONCACAF has revealed the list of candidates who will run for positions on the CONCACAF Executive Committee for the term 2013-2017 and the FIFA Executive Committee for the term 2013-2017.

The election will be held during the XXXVIII CONCACAF Ordinary Congress, which will be held in Panama City, Panama on Friday, April 19.

As it turns out, U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati is the only candidate running opposed in two elections. He is vying for the FIFA Executive Committee member from North America against Justino Compeán of Mexico and for the CONCACAF Executive Committee member from North America against Victor Montagliani of Canada.

The individuals that have submitted their candidacy to run for office pursuant to articles 26 and 27 of the CONCACAF Statutes are:

FIFA Executive Committee member from the Caribbean, Jeffrey Webb (Cayman Islands) – Unopposed

FIFA Executive Committee member from North America, Justino Compeán (Mexico) and Sunil Gulati (United States) – Election

CONCACAF Executive Committee vice president from Central America, Alfredo Hawit (Honduras) – Unopposed

CONCACAF Executive Committee vice president from the Caribbean, Horace Burrell (Jamaica) – Unopposed

CONCACAF Executive Committee member from Central America, Eduardo Li (Costa Rica) – Unopposed

CONCACAF Executive Committee member from the Caribbean, Luis Hernandez (Cuba) – Unopposed

CONCACAF Executive Committee member from North America, Sunil Gulati (United States) and Victor Montagliani (Canada) – Election

In accordance with CONCACAF Statutes, all of the confederation’s Member Associations will vote to elect the members to these available positions during the XXVIII CONCACAF Ordinary Congress, to be held on Friday, April 19, 2013, in Panama City, Panama.
