PANAMA CITY — As it turned out, both sides did not get what they needed in this World Cup qualifier in their scoreless tie on Friday night.
Panama (3-0-1, 10 points) moved closer to clinching a spot in next year’s six-team final round, while Honduras (2-1-2, eight) earned a point at the home of the favored team.
The hosts could have moved on with a win. they still can as they close out the semifinals against winless Cuba (0-5-0, none) in Havana on Tuesday night.
The Hondurans face a must-win situation when it hosts second-place Canada (3-1-1, 10) in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on Tuesday night.
