Honduras names 11 foreign-based, 6 MLS players to WCQ roster

Honduras coach Luis Suarez has announced a 23-man roster for World Cup qualifying that includes 11 foreign-based players and six from Major League Soccer.

Los Catrachos are in must-win situations in their final CONCACAF Group C matches, at Panama on Oct. 12 and at home vs. Canada on Oct. 16.

The MLS-based players included defender Victor Bernardez (San Jose Earthquakes), midfielders Oscar Boniek Garcia (Houston Dynamo), Mario Martinez (Seattle Sounders), Roger Espinoza (Sporting Kansas City) and Marvin Chavez (San Jose Earthquakes and forward Jerry Bengtson (New England Revolution).

The other five foreign-player players were defenders Osman Chavez (Wisla Krakow, Poland), Maynor Figueroa (Wigan Athletic, England) and Emilio Izaguirre (Celtic, Scotland), midfielder Jorge Claros (Hibernian, Scotland) and forward Carlo Costly (Veria FC, Greece).

GOALKEEPERS: Noel Valladares (Olimpia), Donis Escober (Olimpia), José Mendoza (Marathon)

DEFENDERS: Johnny Leveron (Motagua), Wilmer Crisanto (Victoria), Osman Chávez (Wisla Krakow, Poland), Arnold Peralta (Vida), Maynor Figueroa (Wigan Athletic, England), Víctor Bernardez (San Jose Earthquakes, U.S.), Juan Carlos García (Olimpia), Emilio Izaguirre (Celtic, Scotland), Jose Velasquez (Victoria)
