Figueroa’s wonder strike helps Wigan advance in League Cup

Honduran international Maynor Figueroa scored off a 30-yard blast on Tuesday, a goal that many are haiing as a contender for English Premier League goal of the year.

Figueroa fired in a left-footed shot in Wigan Atheltic’s 4-1 home thrashing of Nottingham Forest in the Capital One League Cup. His shot, which goalkeeper Lee Camp on a left-to-right diagonal trajectory, was a beauty.

After Argentine scored the host’s first goal in the 25th minute, Figueroa doubled in in the 35th minute. Jordi Gomez (44th minute) and Simon Cox (90th minute) also found the back of the net for Wigan.
