COLUMBUS, Ohio — Striker Jerry Bengtson, one of Honduras’ heroes during the recent London Olympics, scored for the New England Revolution, but it wasn’t enough in a 4-3 Major League Soccer defeat to the Columbus Crew on Saturday night.
Bengtson helped the visitors grab a 2-0 lead in the opening 23 minutes. Ryan Guy tallied in the 16th minute and Bengtson added his goal seven minutes later.
The Honduran international collected a through ball from benny Feilhaber on the left flank before he eluded goakeeper Andy Gruenebaum outside the penalty area before he rolled the ball off the left post for his second goal since joining the club.
However, the Revs could not hold the lead as Feerico Higuain and Jairo Arrieta each scored twice to give the Crew (10-8-6, 36 points) a comeback win over New England (6-14-5, 23).
