Mexico national coach Jose Manuel de la Torre named six European-based players who will play for El Tri during next month’s World Cup qualifiers, and his selections should not be surprising one iota.

Among those named were Manchester United striker Javier (Chicharito) Hernandez, Tottenham striker Giovani dos Santos, a key performer in the Mexicans’ run to the gold medal in the London Olympics, Valcencia midfielder Andres Guardado, Stuttgart central defender Francisco Rodriguez, Espanyol defender Hector Moreno and A.C. Ajaccio goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

The rest of the roster is expected to be announced next week, which will be made up of foreign-based and Mexican League players.

The Mexicans will play Costa Rica in a home-and-away series in the next phase of CONCACAF qualifiers.

El Tri will visit the Ticos in San Jose, Costa Rica on Sept. 7 and then return home to host the Central American side at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on Sept. 11.
