For the second successive week, Jozy Altidore continued to send a message to U.S. national coach Juergen Klinsmann that he should be recalled for the next round of World Cup qualifiers.
The 22-year-old striker connected for a brace in AZ Alkmaar’s 3-1 victory over SC Heracles in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday.
Those two goals came after Altidore secured a brace in last week’s win over Ajax last week. Altidore leads the league with four goals in two appearances.
The former New York Red Bull struck in the 16th minute before Maarten Martens doubled the lead later in the first half.
After Samuel Armenteros equalized in the 86th minute, Altidore boosted Alkmaar to a 3-1 advantage a few minutes later.
