Two American players scored for their respective European clubs on Saturday.
Defender Clarence Goodson tallied for Brondby in the 84th minute to give his club a 1-1 draw with FC Copenhagen in the Danish Superliga.
Midfielder Alejandro Bedoya scored in his debut for Helsingborg in Sweden, but his team dropped a 2-1 decision to Elfsborg.
Bedoya, who left Rangers (Scotland), due to the team’s financial problems, gave Helsingborg the lead in the 37th minute as he scored off a bicycle kick after a free kick.
His teammates, however, could not hold the lead as Elsborg struck twice.
As it turns out, Bedoya will meet up with some familiar faces this week when Helsingborg faces Celtic, Rangers’ top rival, in a two-leg qualifying playoff for the UEFA Champions League.
