It should come as no surprise as to who won TropiGol.com’s player of the week honors this week.
Honduran forward Jerry Bengtson, who has scored all of his team’s goals during the Olympic men’s soccer tournament, received that honor for the week ending on Sunday, July 28.
Bengtson, a recent acquisition by the New England Revolution, struck for a brace in the Central Americans’ 2-2 opening draw with Morocco last Thursday before registering the lone score of the 1-0 upset of Japan on Sunday.
The Hondurans (1-0-1, four points) can clinch a spot in the quarterfinals if they record at least a draw against Japan in their final Group D match in Coventry, England on Wednesday night.
