The road to the 2013 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship will kick off in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, with a Central American qualifying Group 1 game between Costa Rica and Nicaragua on Wednesday night.
Two days later, host Honduras will meet Costa Rica before facing Nicaragua on Saturday.
Group 2 will be played July 25-29 in Coatepeque, Guatemala, featuring the host, El Salvador and Panama.
El Salvador completed its preparations for the qualifiers by defeating the Club America U-20 team, 1-0, in Mexico City. The Cuscatlecos fell, 2-1, to a youth team from Mexico’s Cruz Azul on Wednesday.
Panama dropped two successive U-20 friendly matches against host Colombia last Tuesday, 4-0, and Saturday, 2-0.
Guatemala played second-division side Deportivo Coatepeque to a 1-1 tie in its final tune-up for the U-20 Central American qualifiers. It also lost 1-0 to Deportivo Ayutla in Coatepeque on Thursday.
