The United States dropped eight spots to 36th place in the latest FIFA rankings, which were released on Tuesday.

The Americans (687 points) retained second place in the CONCACAF pecking order to leader Mexico (832), which remained 19th in the FIFA rankings.

Panama was third in CONCACAF and 48th overall, followed by Haiti, fifth in the confederation and 62nd overall.

The U.S., which defeated Antigua & Barbuda in World Cup qualifying, 3-1, and Scotland in an international friendly, was not helped by three other results that resulted in a 0-1-2 record — a 4-1 home loss to Brazil, a scoreless friendly draw at Canada and a 1-1 World Cup qualifying tie in Guatemala.

Haiti was among the most active CONCACAF countries, jumping nine places from 71st to 62nd place.

In the overall FIFA rankings, newly crowned European champion Spain (1,691) not surprisingly retained the top spot, followed by Germany, Uruguay, England, Portland, Italy, Argentina, Netherlands, Croatia and Denmark.
