Bernier suspended for reckless challenge on Johnson

Posted on June 29, 2012

The Major League Soccer disciplinary committee Friday suspended Montreal Impact midfielder Patrice Bernier for one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for his reckless challenge.

That play endangered the safety of his opponent, Toronto FC forward Ryan Johnson, a member of the Jamaica National Team.

Bernier’s action occurred in the 94th minute of the June 27 match between the clubs.

Bernier will serve his suspension when the Impact travel to play D.C. United at RFK Stadium on Saturday.
