MONTREAL — Jamaican international Ryan Johnson scored one goal and set up another to help Toronto FC to a 3-0 triumph over the Montreal Impact in Major League Soccer action on Wednesday night.
After Torsten Frings scored to lift the hosts in the lead at the 52nd minute, Johnson struck 20 minutes later. He took advantage of a Montreal giveaway near the Montreal penalty area as Nick Soolsma took the ball away from Lamar Neagle. Soolsma fed Johnston, who sent a left-footed shot through defenders and past Jamaican goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts and into the back of the net.
Johnson finished off the night in the 78th minute as he passed the ball to Ashtone Morgan, who crossed the ball into the penalty area for Danny Koevermans. Koevermans finished for a 3-0 lead.
Toronto (2-10-2 eight points) will host the New York Red Bulls on Saturday while the Impact (6-6-3, 18), a first-year expansion team travels to Washington, D.C. to meet D.C. United.
