Juventus is out and Santos Laguna is in.
Justice Entertainment Group, Major League Soccer and CAA Sports have announced that Mexican Primera Division champion Santos Laguna will meet La Liga Champion Real Madrid in Las Vegas as part of the Herbalife World Football Challenge on Aug. 5.
Santos, which includes U.S. international striker Herculez Gomez, repalced Juventus, which dropped out of its U.S. tour.
Due to its participation in the upcoming Italian Super Cup in Beijing on August 11, an official Serie A league match, Juventus FC had to withdraw from the match.
“We are thrilled to have the best of Mexico taking on the best of Spain. It’s a title bout fit for the big stage of Las Vegas,” president & COO of JEG Daren Libonati said in a statement. “With both teams coming off championship seasons as well as success in various club competitions, Santos Laguna and Real Madrid are two of the world’s hottest teams so fans will being seeing soccer at its highest level.”
Real Madrid clinched the La Liga title in May.
