In the Tuesday editions of the Trinidad Guardian, Brian Lewis, honorary secretary general of the Trinidad & Tobago’s Olympic Committee, said that the allegations against Jack Warner were tranishing the country’s reputation.
Warner, the former CONCACAF president and FIFA vice president who resigned due to his alleged involvement in the FIFA presidential bribery scandal last year.
This is what Lewis wrote:
“If you are comforted by and happy about the fall of Austin Jack Warner and the disgrace and humiliation that have come upon the one-time strongman of local, regional and world football, take note that allegations made against Warner are tarnishing the country’s reputation. No matter what your race, views, politics or your glee. He is a mirror image of T&T society, its values and principles. This country nurtured him and took advantage of his strengths and weaknesses. We pay little attention to the small things that compound over time and become big things. Ours is a society that is always looking for an easy or convenient way to get things done, pass the buck, responsibility and discipline.”
