Trinidad & Tobaga international midfielder Chris Birchall said on Monday that he will not return to the LA Galaxy for the 2012 Major League Soccer season.
Birchall, 27, made the announcement on twitter.
“Disappointed to say that I will not be returning to LA Galaxy,” Birchall said on twitter. “I would like to thank everyone for a Superb 3 years, fans exceptional!! Thankyou!”
Birchall later tweeted: “A massive thankyou to all the LA Galaxy fans, you,ve all been fantastic ever since I signed in 09. I will RT some of your kind words.”
Birchall played 57 games for the defending Major League Soccer champion Galaxy from 2009-2011. He also has made 39 international appearances for the Soca Warriors, scoring four times, and playing at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
He did not say what his future plans were, although it was expected he would seek playing for another team.
