Blas Perez broke a 1-1 deadlock in the 50th minute to lift Panama to a 2-1 win over Nicaguara in a Group C CONCACAF World Cup qualifying match in Managua, Nicaragua on Tuesday night.
Luis Tejada had given Panama a 1-0 in the seventh minute before Roman Anibal Torres equalized via a an own goal for Nicaguara in the 19th minute at Estadio Nacional.
There was no game between the Bahamas and Dominica because the Bahamas dropped out of the competition
The Bahamas was forced to withdraw because its national stadium was not ready. The ground, Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium, a gift to the Bahamas from China, has not hosted any events because of work in the area near it.
The top team in each group will advance to the semifinal round, which will be played next year. The next two phases of qualifying is set for Oct. 7 and 11, followed by games on Nov. 11 and 15.
